Computer skills are easier to build when you follow a path instead of jumping between tools. This is a general suggestion, not a fixed rule, and the right path depends on your goal and on the time you can give.
Step one is the basics: using a keyboard and mouse comfortably, typing at a steady pace, managing files and folders, connecting to the internet safely, using e-mail, and understanding passwords and common online risks. These skills sound simple, but they make every later course smoother.
Step two is office programs: documents, spreadsheets and presentations. They are used in almost every workplace, and they teach you habits that transfer to other software, such as working with menus, templates and shortcuts.
Step three is choosing one specialised track and staying with it long enough to see results. Graphic design courses usually teach ideas such as layers, colour, typography and image size before the tools themselves. Programming and web development courses usually begin with logic and with the building blocks of web pages, HTML for structure and CSS for style, before moving to more advanced topics. It is better to learn one track well than to sample five.
Whichever track you choose, build small projects as you learn: a poster, a one-page website, a spreadsheet for a real need. Keep the finished work in a simple portfolio, because projects show what you can do far better than a list of course names. Finally, remember that tools change, while the ideas behind them last longer, so give time to understanding why something works and not only which button to press.
